The Owl on the Roof
Last night, I was lying in bed when I heard a soft hoot outside my window. I opened it and found a big brown owl staring right at me. Suddenly, I could understand him!
“If I could talk to humans,” the owl said, “I would tell them to slow down and listen to nature.”
I blinked in surprise and asked him what the forest was like at night. “It’s full of stories,” he replied, “but humans are too busy to hear them.”
If I could talk to animals every day, I would visit the forest to listen to their secrets. I smiled and thanked the owl. With a flap of his wings, he vanished into the night sky.
